The Senior Radio Telecommunications Engineer will serve in an engineering and technician role for comprehensive lifecycle management of systems and devices. The work location is just off of the Metro center station in NW DC.


  • Repair, maintain, trouble shoot, and program hand held subscriber units to include Astro-Saber, Astro-X, XTS 3000, XTS 5000, APX 6000, TXM1000, XTVA, KVL programmers, battery chargers and other devices.
  • Repair, maintain, troubleshoot, install, remove, and program vehicular mobile radio, siren and specialized lighting systems. These systems include: Astro Spectra, XTL5000, mobile siren systems, lighting systems and other specialized mobile equipment.
  • Repair, maintain, troubleshoot, and program fixed and transportable radio systems to include: Quantar base stations and repeaters, Astro-Tac receivers, Digital Interface Units (DIUs), Astro-Tac Comparators, Modems, Consoles, antenna systems and other specialized fixed and transportable radio components and systems. Other specialized radio support as required.
  • Provide daily liaison between the government and vendors regarding billing issues.


  • 7+ years of experience in enterprise operations and maintenance with experience in Wireless Telecommunications Networking devices and associated systems, network systems analysis, fault detection, and security best practices.
  • Associates degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Systems Engineering, or related field at a minimum is required.
  • Must be able to integrate, test, and setup radio telecommunication devices within networks, monitor and maintain existing communications paths and resolve problems.
  • Experience and expertise with Motorola line of radios, Motorola radio repair (ATX/APX radio systems), Motorola software, programmers and battery chargers.
  • LMR experience for conventional systems (subscriber base systems).
  • Ability to pass background investigation check for clearance (Public Trust).
  • Experienced with general logistics and shop processes (packing and shipping of supplies, building kits, servicing kits).
  • Independently driven (works well with remote guidance and supervision) and high attention to detail.
